We can’t seem to figure out why exactly, but Ferrari was not pleased with Deadmau5’s Nyan Cat-themed 458 Italia Purrari. Was it not classy, sexy, fancy enough for Ferrari? Whatever the reason, Ferrari North America sent Deadmau5, aka Joel Zimmerman, a Cease and Desist letter, requesting that the mau5 have the custom emblems removed.
Deadmau5 had certainly flashed his ride around and clearly had no qualms about possibly offending Ferrari, running it in a few rallies and getting coffee with assorted celebrities and disgraced politicians. It might seem surprising that a car company would care so much what a person painted on one of its cars, but when you’re flaunting it all over the internet like Deadmau5, visibility is that much more of an issue. Deadmau5 must have wanted to avoid legal trouble (avoid trouble… Deadmau5?) because the car went up for sale on Craigslist (for $380,000!).
What a rough life, Joel. Is there anyone you can’t manage to upset?!
