Within the past few years, a number of companies have hopped on to the plastic-reduction movement. Calvin Harris stopped using straws at his shows, Starbucks created strawless lids, Live Nation has moved to paper straws, and now DC-10 has gone plastic free. DC-10 Ibiza made this announcement along with the official opening day of Circoloco, which was May 20.
The idea is in the right direction, especially if they are still wanting to be plastic free by 2020, which is what they were aiming for in January. Though the announcement is impressive and in the right direction, there are still some questions. What about items from the general store, or food retailers? Will there be refill stations on the island? Putting refill stations on the island will save bottles, as well as money for visitors.
These actions will help with the amount of plastic that is being built up and will help with creating new norms in the future. We hope they continue to cut back, and others follow. What are other venues doing to help the environment? Let us know on our Facebook and Twitter.
