Dance Music Northwest is committed to bringing you the latest information relating to the Pacific Northwest dance music scene. That being said, occasionally some things come up on a broader scale that are simply too awesome to ignore—things like the Daft Punk LEGO set submission.
For some background, LEGO hosts an ‘Ideas’ site where aspiring creators can pitch an idea for a LEGO set. It is then voted on by other members of the community, and upon receiving 10,000 supporters, is reviewed by set designers and LEGO’s marketing team. If the idea passes judgement, the set goes into circulation.
The Daft Punk LEGO submission primarily revolves around transforming the duo into official minfigures, complete with miniature turntables, mixers, controllers, and more. Granted, without approval from the musicians themselves, the project will die before it has a chance to shine. However, Daft Punk is known for making…interesting branding decisions, from TRON: Legacy to the very mediocre art-house film, Eden, so something as universally enjoyable as LEGOs stands a fair chance of gaining their approval.
Even the LEGO employees seem to be on board, and posted a pun-laden message of approval when the project first passed one thousand supporters: “This project didn’t just get lucky, the detail and thought behind the project speaks for itself. Just make sure you celebrate 1,000+ supporters by losing yourself to the dance!”
As of right now, the project is around a hundred votes shy of the goal of 10,000 and only one day of voting remains. It takes little effort to support the project, so if you’re on board, take action. If you have more ideas, let us hear them on Facebook, Twitter, or in the comments section.
