Things have been mighty quiet around the Crystal Castles camp since their tour last year (which included a stop at Bumbershoot). Unfortunately, half of Crystal Castles (Alice Glass) posted on her twitter recently that she was putting an end to the partnership.
I am leaving Crystal Castles.

Shortly after, Alice clarified a little bit about her partnership with Ethan Kath over the last decade and why she was deciding to suddenly end Crystal Castles, despite rave reviews of the live act like this article from Rolling Stone.
My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others.

At least she has a valid reason on why she chose to disband Crystal Castles.
For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC.

While she doesn’t go into a lot of detail on what happened or what her reasons were for parting, there was some good news at the end of it all.
Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.

So there you have it. After how crazy and experimental Crystal Castles were with their effects, we are curious to see where the road will lead Alice Glass. We wonder what she will decide to do for her solo work. As for Ethan, he was recently a part of the Imagine Music Festival during Labor Day in Atlanta, Georgia. We have a feeling Ethan will be booking more DJ sets now that he doesn’t have to commit to Crystal Castles touring and studio time.
