Finally. It’s FreakNight week! Making its return to the WaMu Theater in downtown Seattle, USC Events’ sinister circus is a one-night affair complete with all the rides, sideshows, and, more importantly, some of the best music in the scene! Headlined by two electronic dance music legends, Justice and Kaskade, this year’s lineup offers something for everyone: trance fans included.
FreakNight has included more than a few great trance acts, with performances from Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, New World Punx, and more throughout its history. While this year’s lineup may not have many superstar names or a dedicated stage like the Bass Asylum, make no mistake about it: the genre will be well-represented. Without further adieu, the trance artists of FreakNight 17:
Dash Berlin
Dash Berlin is finally making his FreakNight encore after performing one of the more memorable sets in the festival’s history four years ago. One of the best in trance-progressive, this Dutchman’s dance floor anthems will have you jumping up and down one moment, and experiencing all the feels the very next! Along with remixes to the latest hits in EDM and pop music, you can expect to hear some of the uplifting vocal classics that propelled Berlin to the upper echelon of trance music 10 years ago. Waiting, Better Half of Me, and Steal You Away anyone?
Infected Mushroom
Infected Mushroom is no stranger to FreakNight, having performed in 2010, 2013 and 2015. The Israel-bred, Los Angeles based duo of Amit Duvdevani and Erez Eisen are true psytrance pioneers- creating a sound that is as “strange” as the Infected Mushroom name itself. Their live performances are just as interesting. Through the use of psychedelic visuals, hypnotic arrangements, live instruments and more, they have the unique ability to transport a crowd to wonderland. While we won’t be getting a live set on Friday, an Infected Mushroom DJ set will have the same effect. Will you take the trip to psychedelic wonderland?
Liquid Soul
A fresh FreakNight face, Switzerland native Nicola Capobiano, aka Liquid Soul, will be bringing his blend of progressive and psychedelic trance to the twisted big top. Having performed at the biggest festivals in the world, Liquid Soul’s sets are filled with hard hitting tempos, with vocals sprinkled here and there- all used in a way that takes his crowd to the darker side of trance music. If you like Bryan Kearney or Vini Vici and aren’t so familiar with Liquid, his set will be one you won’t want to miss!
If you want even more trance, walk over to The Underground to catch the legendary Solarstone in action! FreakNight 2017 tickets are still available, with doors slated for a 6:30 PM opening. What trance artist(s) are you looking forward to seeing?
Important things happen in Pacific Northwest nightlife, and DMNW will send you alerts!
