[numblock num=”9″ style=”3″]After delivering a thunderous early set at Lucky, Clockwork wasn’t finished that quickly. Henry Steinway brought his unmatched energy and massive electro synths to Foundation for Resonate Fridays to bring us a show we soon wouldn’t forget.[/numblock]
After warming up the early-birds of Lucky and getting the party started at Wamu Theatre, Clockwork (aka Henry Steinway) came to Foundation Nightclub and delivered a colossal set. Even with an event like Lucky happening at the same time, Foundation was still packed with an anxious crowd awaiting to hear Clockwork deliver his unique style of big room electro.
Opening up the decks for Clockwork were locals OK Beats, City 17 and Hyperfunk. Getting there mid-set for City 17 at about 10:30, there were already a decent amount of people inside the venue. Although they were short a member, half of City 17 still warmed the crowd up nicely with a variety of club-worthy tunes ranging from dubstep to heavy electro. What a relief to not hear your everyday songs you would hear at a festival or club! Hyperfunk kept the energy alive by starting his set with a dirty remix of the widely popular The Chainsmokers song #selfie. Throughout the rest of the set, Hyperfunk did a great job keeping the bass flow steady with some hard-rocking beats, getting us all anticipated for the mighty Clockwork to throw down.
Also known by his alias RL Grime, Clockwork played an hour long set that was full of ridiculous energy. When he started off with a snippet of Justice’s Stress, we all knew we were in for quite the ride. After that, most of the songs he played were hidden gems. Hearing fresh music is always a nice treat for us when we go to live shows and this was no exception. It’s also a breath of fresh air when DJ’s/Producers like to do what they do. Clockwork is one of those performers that brings new life into a scene where a lot of times, we are often hearing the same song several times in one night. This is not one of those occurences. We had been waiting a long time for him to make his mark on Foundation and in no way were we disappointed. Do yourself a favor and check him out next time he rolls through the Northwest!
