City 17 have been perennial favorites in the Northwest for years, even before winning The EDC Discovery Project or playing the prestigious Lights All Night next to heavyweights like Tiesto, Zedd, and Avicii. The original Ignite It, the track that propelled City 17 to their highest heights yet, was a glitchy, bouncy electro number, nothing short of an A-rate, feel-good vocal masterpiece. The TOER remix is nothing like the original.
Gone are the bouncy house drums and 8-bit ear candies. Gone are the peaks and valleys. TOER rips apart the highly-memorable vocal cut and transforms Ignite It into a melodic dubstep banger. Heavy bass, still very much electro-influenced, is paired with pitch-shifted vocals and huge dubstep snares. The entire remix is high energy, rarely spending more than a second or two in silence before blasting into the next section and rocking eardrums with wildly distorted leads. What can we say; this essential City 17 track sounds great as dubstep, and everyone should watch what TOER brings next. Listen and love.
