Coldplay have been around for quite a while and have given us such auditory pleasures as Fix You, The Scientist, Yellow and many more. Those who have hit the festival circuit this year or listened to almost any popular podcast have heard a remix or two of their new hit A Sky Full of Stars, off of the album Ghost Stories. What some may not know is that our friend on the mend Avicii had a hand in producing that track, and it’s one of the most beautiful partnerships we’ve seen this year.
While some popular artists will only indicate that they worked with a famous EDM producer through a songwriting credit, Chris Martin has acknowledged that it’s just fine to admit the need to get into dance mode.
I know that in a concert if we’re playing this whole album, there will be a point where you’re like, “Okay, I’ve got this out of my system. Now let’s go dancing. -Chris Martin
The process behind creating the track was an interesting one, with Avicii and Martin both creating their own versions of the track before coming together to create the version we now love. We must admit, the track is one of the biggest feels trips we’ve been on in quite some time, and we don’t even feel the least bit guilty about it. Sometimes it’s fun to listen to something you can get your twerk on to, but this one is all about a pure, unadulterated, unselfish love.
We wish you all the joy and peace that comes from finding that person who is your own sky full of stars. Until then, we hope you can enjoy this track with friends and family that you hold dear. Now that Coldplay have dipped their toes into the waters of the EDM sea we can’t wait to see what else they come up with, if this first foray is any indication, it’s going to be incredible.
