Local nightclub/bar/lounge Chop Suey, located in Capitol Hill, will no longer be booking events as of January 20th of next year, and all events after that date are being cancelled. The venue has been for sale for months, with the price recently being lowered and different buyers rumored to have purchased the building in recent days. The cancellation of future events would suggest that something is in the works, but what the end result will be remains to be seen.
Chop Suey’s talent booker Jodi Ecklund shared the new development with Seattle Weekly, after rumors that the venue had been purchased by a group from California (which she could not confirm).
“I have been told to cease all booking on 1/20 and to cancel all future bookings after that date. I anticipate that I will be receiving more information in the days to come.”
