Shambhala Music Festival headliners Chase and Status are releasing their highly anticipated new album at the end of this month. With a decade and a half in their prestigious spot as drum N bass legends, “RTRN II JUNGLE” will twin the group’s classic crowd-pleasing D’n’B with an eponymous return to the Jungle and Dancehall roots of the genre. One of the tracks from the new album has already been released, “Program (feat. Irah)” providing a tantalizing sample of what we can expect from them and their forthcoming material.
According to Mixmag, the group “spent a week in Jamaica last year to record with local artists” with member Saul Milton stating in an accompanying documentary that …
“What we wanted to do was to create authentic, new jungle – and go to the source; where the culture and all the inspiration came from…We made our own samples rather than taking from someone else’s work. Now, we have a load of great dancehall records and a bag of brand new jungle too, and we’re excited to get them out there”
Chase and Status will be appearing at Shambhala Music Festival this August on The Village stage, a welcome return and sure to be an earth-shaking presentation of their classic and brand-new material.
