The Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) will be hosting the Fall Fling and have invited none other than Magnus August Høiberg, better known as Cashmere Cat, to help kick-start the school year. The 27-year-old Norwegian DJ and producer was deservedly noticed for his remix work of famous artists such as Lana Del Rey and 2Chainz but has since released original EPs and singles that have been received just as well. He has also done production work for Kanye West, Tinashe, and Charli XCX among others, and has been featured alongside names such as Ariana Grande and Juicy J.
He has a command of melodies that he brings to life with a unique vibe that is all his own. He uses trippy beats, light bells, and vocals doctored to haunt, anchored with a solid melodic composition that his fans can instantly recognize. If you haven’t yet, check out some of his original work below:
Say maybe the Cat isn’t your cup of tea (although we can’t imagine why), but the Fall Fling will offer a variety in terms of genre. You can expect to see some indie-pop in singer songwriter Ryn Weaver as well as some hip-hop and rap in the trio known as Brothers From Another.
The Fall Fling will take place two days before school starts as a way for students to get excited about (or maybe soften the blow of) their quarter to come. The show begins Monday, September 28 at 3 pm and is free with valid Husky ID.
