It’s always a welcomed sight when a big-name festival genuinely cares about the feedback of its fans. With Bumbershoot this year, we’re already seeing just that. After widespread discontent about the logistics of having a stage in Key Arena, the local Labor Day festival has officially made the announcement that it will be returning the mainstage outdoors to Memorial Stadium.
After three years in the KeyArena, a winning combination of necessity, patron feedback, and community support is allowing us to move our biggest stage back outdoors this year. We’ve listened and thought long and hard about how to make the whole Bumbershoot experience better. By relocating the Mainstage to the north side of (Memorial) Stadium (instead of the western end zone) and opening additional exits, we’ve created a way to drastically minimize lines.
To top it off, no longer will there be limits to the amount of people allowed on the floor, with the new setup drastically “increasing audience capacity.” This will also allow for unlimited in-and-out access, making it so no one gets stuck on the outside looking in. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the decision, and extend our most heartfelt gratitude to Bumbershoot for showing that they truly care about their fans over all else.
