The electronic music scene still has yet to feel the weight of the world of drum & bass. The microscopic attention of the mainstream is not quite there, but trust us – the future of drum & bass is all around us, like gravity. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean you won’t feel it when it hits you. Don’t fear the force, however. With sub-genres spanning across liquid, ambient and feather-weight styles, the sound of today’s drum & bass just might be the breath of change you are seeking. And to help mediate your step in the right direction, we introduce to you one of the youngest front-runners of the revamped drum & bass scene today: Bryzone. Take a walk through his soon-to-be-released Trial Run/Stargaze EP, and open your mind to a new way of listening to d&b.

At only 18 years old, Bryzone has simply “wow”-ed listeners with his fresh fusions in drum & bass. As you hear above, his first of two new singles entitled Trial Run is as upbeat and quick-moving as drum & bass comes. But what he’s balanced out the BPM’s with is a soft combination of complex piano chords, a deep, slow-pulsing bass line that ebbs away the frantic feeling of a 170+ tempo, and the most soul-healing and mind-easing vocals you’ll ever hear in electronic music. Right at the kick-off, the voice of Jenny Mayhem lures you in, but in a warm-hearted, soothing way. This song is the peace of mind you’ve been waiting to set aside for yourself; it becomes quite difficult not to click back to the beginning, just to breathe in the therapeutic vibes once or twice more.
There is so much more to be explored and unearthed in the realm of drum & bass, but one thing is certain: The rising talents of the genre are breaking new ground with each step forward, and with movers in the genre like Bryzone leading the way, it’s worth the stray away from the masses. We are spirited, lively beings with open minds, loving hearts and intrinsic curiosity; why shouldn’t our music be just as genuine? We agree. Listen to Stargaze below, Bryzone’s second track off his upcoming EP, and find out that it’s possible.
