It’s time to open up those sun roofs and get yourself ready for some Blue Sky Action, the first preview we’ve heard off of Above & Beyond’s forthcoming studio album. It’s been awhile since we initially heard Blue Sky Action teased live back at their acoustic shows in LA, but A&B has succeeded uniting their fans’ simmering anticipation with exclusive debuts on ABGT 087 and Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 episode this past week. Some of us who saw Above & Beyond headline the main stages at major festivals like Ultra Miami, EDC Las Vegas, and of course Paradiso this year will remember being uplifted by Blue Sky Action‘s unmistakable resounding chorus that A&B previewed to exuberant crowds rain or shine.
Wait a minute, you knew you recognized that voice. Jono, Paavo, and Tony welcome back multi-talented Alex Vargas for Blue Sky Action, whose vocals made home in our heart caves on A&B’s acclaimed Acoustic album. We shamelessly admit to listening to their emotionally subjective Sticky Fingers on repeat for weeks (okay, months if we’re talking about the Lane 8 re-work – it’s so deeply beautiful it aches). So far it is not yet confirmed if Alex Vargas will be collaborating on more tracks in the forthcoming album, but Oceanlab fans can expect to hear vocals from Justine Suissa, who is now unofficially the 4th member of Above & Beyond. A&B has also expressed their desire to bring on Annie Drury who like Vargas, contributed pipes on the Acoustic album.
Continuing to fulfill their reputable prowess for lyrical depth emphasized by insurmountable production quality, A&B never fails to cause a stir in our state of mind. Encouraging a driving beat with lush, pulsating synths and soaring melodic builds, Blue Sky Action bursts with feel good energy that’s meant to be shared. Stream below, share it, and pre-order Blue Sky Action on iTunes today.
