With his latest EP release Invincible on Odesza’s Foreign Family Collective, Big Wild hit the road for his Invincible Tour. Bringing along with him Phantoms and IHF, we caught the stop in Vancouver earlier this week. Big Wild’s take on electronic music is a blend of live instruments, some funk, some hip-hop and plenty of fun. We’ve had a few opportunities to catch Jackson play and each time we’ve certainly had our fair share of good times. With some seriously psychedelic visuals paired with a fully live setup, The Invincible Tour was a great escape from the dreary, cold and grey PNW weather.
Over the last year or so, live sets have certainly made their way more into the mainstream. This was clearly the case with the Invincible Tour, as all three performers brought out their live setups. Making his Vancouver debut, IHF kicked off the night with guitar and all. The second artists may seem a little familiar if you follow Dillon Francis on Snapchat! With a quirky sense of humor and lots of energy the duo was a perfect fit for the tour.
We’ve kept Big Wild’s Invincible EP on repeat for a few weeks now so we were more than thrilled to hear it live. Another thing we’ve always really enjoyed with Big Wild is his unique take on remixing tracks. The night was full of both and we loved the great mix of originals and remixes. Obviously Aftergold and Invincible were a must, but hearing remixes of UGK’s International Players Anthem and Ludacris’s Stand Up had us movin! The combination of live music and great visuals made for a perfect midweek show. Earlier this month we included Big Wild on our Shambhala 2017 wishlist and after his tour stop we’re going to stick to that.
Continuing the Invincible Tour with stops in Eugene, Portland and Seattle, Big Wild will continue to bring the good vibes across the PNW. If you missed out you can still get your fill by listening to Big Wild’s latest EP. With festival season just around the corner, we couldn’t be more excited for the warmer weather and sunshine. The Invincible Tour was a reminder of great things to come…and we couldn’t have asked for a better night!
