Now celebrating its tenth year in 2014, Bestival has become one of the most original, diverse, and exciting festivals overseas. The promoters of Bestival have some tricks up their sleeves and decided that the Isle of Wight will no longer be the only Bestival location. For the first time ever, Bestival will make its debut on North American soil sometime next summer, although the details of the U.S. version are not announced yet. Bestival is taking place in the Isle of Wight (Southern England) at Robin Hill Country Park from September 4-7. Most likely details about the U.S. debut will be revealed during or shortly after the initial festival in Europe. Confirmed acts for this year’s festival include: Outkast, Foals, Chic (featuring Nile Rodgers), Beck, Disclosure, Major Lazer, Basement Jaxx, London Grammer and many more.
It’s an interesting concept when festivals start branching out and spread into other territories. It can be very hit or miss on whether or not these festivals catch on and capture the same level of success they had overseas. You might remember Mysteryland making its debut this year in New York. Do you think Bestival’s debut in the U.S. will be successful against all of these other major festivals, not only in the states, but in the rest of the world, too?
