A new mechanical production is on the horizon, welded with influences from 90s underground electronica, indie-pop and garage. Aubergine MACHINE, a powerhouse electronic duo rising into the scene, is setting off in the right direction just in time for summer to take hold. This male/female combination is one part phenomenal production, one part hypnotic vocal ability, and 100% manufactured to sink in deep and leave our ears, and our minds, in pure bliss.
Aubergine MACHINE may be a new name in our music collection, but the names behind the new duo project are very well-known in the industry. Ian Carey, a well-established DJ and producer in his own right, has graced the house music scene since the early 90s, and has achieved 2 multi-platinum, 1 platinum and 2 gold records. In 2009, his single Get Shaky won MTV’s Best Dance Video award, and Ian has toured across the globe, sharing the decks with the likes of Avicii, Diplo, and Swedish House Mafia.
Shanti Ellis is a fairly new name in electronic music, but sites her influences as Santigold, Vampire Weekend, and No Doubt. Her voice is a sultry blend of airy indie-pop laced with a slight raspy touch that truly stands out from what we are used to. Ian and Shanti collaborated in 2012 and after realizing their unique capability to create genre-bending electronic styles that still appeal to mainstream pop culture. Together, Aubergine MACHINE has the boundless capability to take off in the electronic music scene, as many music critics sense similarities to Flume, Massive Attack, and Late Night Alumni. Their single, Hostage, is set for release on June 23rd, just in time for your Paradiso roadtrip playlist. Keep Aubergine MACHINE on your radar and follow their artistic antics on Facebook and Soundcloud.
