Above & Beyond break the Top 5 only to begin an immediate decline. Pete Tong, Nick Warren, Deep Dish, and Danny Tenaglia slip on the ice and vanish from the charts completely within 2 years after almost a decade in the Top 20. Just look at the difference in Top 100s between 2006 and 2008.

Daft Punk launched their Alive Tour, which as Spin Magazine described it ultimately began “an ‘arms race’ for visual effects in electronic music.” David Guetta released Pop Life, whose single Love Is Gone reached Number 1 on the American Dance Chart and charted on the Billboard Hot 100. The new wave of American dance music had arrived, and by god the holders of the old throne fell faster than Houses of Westoros.
