Ampy Move Charges While You Groove

After hearing about Mini Power last year, all we wanted was to see it in stores in time for 2015’s festival season. Unfortunately that was not the case, but coming on the horizon soon is another portable power source: AMPY Move.

This device works as a portable battery that can be charged either on the wall or through the power of your own movement. You can put it in your pocket, purse, or attach it to an accessory band on your arm or leg while you exercise. It charges best during an up-and-down motion, so what could be more perfect than throwing this in your fanny pack before you run into a show and jump around?

Finally, someone has invented phone charging that GETS us! AMPY has yet to be released, but the app is available for people to download and get a feel for how effectively it works. If you’re not sure that the $99 price tag is worth it, maybe download the app and compare those dollars to the amount of energy you’re generating, number of calories burned, and the amount of battery left on your phone.

Although we highly recommend ignoring your phone as much as possible while at a festival to fully engage in the experience, if you just can’t do without your phone, maybe AMPY is for you! One hour of exercise generates enough energy to power your smartphone for five hours. Just think how convenient it could be to be charging an extra battery while you dance to your favorite DJ. And can you imagine how much energy you would generate during a hardstyle set?

AMPY Move works with any device that charges from a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port. That could be an Android or iPhone, or a smart watch if you’re that cool. (Is that cool?)

If you’re interested in learning more or want to pre-order, check out AMPY’s website!

What do you think? How important is a charged phone at a festival? Would you consider getting an AMPY upon their release?
