For many DJs, there’s always question of whether or not they’re working from a set playlist or performing on the fly. Needless to say, we weren’t surprised that Aly & Fila subscribe to the latter of these two methods.
“I don’t pre plan my sets. I know a lot of artist will plan out a set and that’s OK, it’s their style and I have nothing against that. I like to get a feel for the crowd and their energy and play off of that instead.”
It’s always a gamble keeping your crowd happy when you’re not going forward with a set lineup of tracks. Even so, this is one of the reasons each and every Aly & Fila set is unique and special. The songs, and the emotions that come with the show are ephemeral; they will never be presented again in the exact same manner. At Lucky, Fadi got to experience the “very dedicated, die-hard fans here [in Seattle]” firsthand.
Fadi brought a classic Aly & Fila performance: High energy and uplifting trance. It’s no wonder too, given that “there is, especially in the UK… a huge market for [138 trance].” It was clear that Seattle (and not just the UK) is very much that target market, finding itself practically begging for the faster avenues of trance music for our festivals and club nights.
Despite his exhaustion, Fadi brought his magnetic enthusiasm to his fan meet-up with the Seattle Trance Family. It’s always amazing to see how music can bring people together, as something that unites and brings strangers together. Trance music especially seems to do this more than most genres, and that’s exactly what Aly & Fila’s music encapsulates.
