Alison Wonderland threw down on the Paradiso mainstage at Paradiso. Her last performance at the PNW festival was in 2016 on the Wreckage stage, making her move to the main stage even more magical. Surprisingly enough she was the only female artist to play mainstage this year. Out of the 66 artists total that performed this year at Paradiso, only four of them were female.
Opening up with Ariana Grande’s female-empowering God is a Woman and transitioning into her own Good Enough was a perfect start. The 33-year-old Australian artist is known for her powerful performances and her Paradiso set was just that. In an interview with Fizzy Mag she talks about representing her gender on stage.
Yeah, it’s been a bonus representing my gender when it has been a little bit of a struggle to be taken as seriously as men are. It’s been really good that I am starting to see more of that. And it gives other women the confidence to put themselves out there too. Because, you know, it’s not easy. And that’s an added bonus for me. I feel sort of responsible as a woman in the industry to represent my gender in a certain way and it’s important to me.
That all being so, it’s inspiring to see women such as Wonderland herself take on the mainstage of Washington’s biggest music festival.
