We love seeing influential artists help make the world a better place and Alan Walker is a perfect example of that. Last week, Walker donated a whopping $100k to the #TeamTrees movement. The #TeamTrees campaign was born when viral Youtuber Mr.Beast asked the internet how to celebrate hitting his 20M subscriber milestone. Responding via meme, as the internet does best, they challenged him to plant 20 million trees and, “single-handedly save the Earth.”

Kicking things off, Mr.Beast donated $100,000 and left an invitation for others to follow, commenting, “I dare you to take this space from me :).” That’s when producer/DJ Alan Walker answered his call and matched his $100k donation saying, “I want to plant one of the trees!” After Mr.Beast donated another $100k word on #TeamTrees got out and the battle for the #1 spot on the donation board was on. Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk stunned us all with a massive donation of $1 million dollars! Not too long after Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke beat Musk out with his own donation of $100,000,001 dollars and is currently sitting at #1.
In order to make this dream a reality, Mr.Beast partnered up with the Arbor Day Foundation. The Arbor Day Foundation works with professional forestry partners to ensure that the best tree-planting practices are followed. With an emphasis on planting native species where local conditions and forest plans allow for reforestation. Their motto is, “Plant the right trees, in the right place, at the right time, for the right reasons.” To get more information or donate to the cause visit the #TeamTrees website today!
