6 Things We Learned From EDC Las Vegas 2014

4. There’s no cell reception for phones, and the promised Wi-Fi through Snapchat didn’t work.

There were just way too many people and the servers shut down completely. As much as we loved the idea Snapchat had to provide all attendees with all-access Wi-Fi, 140,000 people are enough to overload even the most robust of servers. One thing we learned very quickly is to set a meet up spot and time BEFORE anyone leaves the hotel, because once you get inside and get separated, all phone communication goes out the window.

ADVICE FROM DMNW: Always have a back up plan. Pick a meet-up time and a cool place near a stage and bathroom/water station to meet. That way half your group can wait for the people you’re meeting in case you need to use the facilities, or just really want to go to the near by stage. Just make sure you aren’t away longer than 20 minutes. We’ve found that’s how long people are willing to wait around before they’ll give up and head to the next stage.
