Tomorrow, the annual DoLab extravaganza Lightning in a Bottle kicks off, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what they have in store for us this year! These Bay Area music pioneers, famous for their flagship stage at the notorious Coachella, showcase the best and brightest in electronic music at the hipster valley festival.
This event is special, it’s what they’re really known for. After a bold move from their home base in Silverado to San Antonio venue, they’ve cemented themselves in the west coast festival circuit as one not to miss. With their 2018 lineup bigger and better than ever, we know it’s certainly going to be a good time. Here are a few that we personally think you can’t miss!
5. Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals
When we heard this guy was going to be headlining, we did a little dance. In a world of straight up EDM soaked festival lineups, it’s really refreshing to see a hip hop artist that is not only commercially successful, but also brings a funky, underground vibe out to play; this makes him the perfect addition to this eclectic lineup. If you’re not usually a hip hop fan, we’d especially make a point to check them out, and let em sway you a bit!
4. Pigeon Hole
Yeah, yeah, we know, we go off about these guys all the time, but CAN YOU BLAME US?! These guys are one of the most exciting acts in west coast bass right now. Their electric stage shows, live vocals, and crunchy productions have made them rise to the top of the heap, appearing at almost every notable west coast festival this year, and earning rave reviews at every turn. If you like heavy bass and cool dudes, do not sleep on this one!
3. B.Traits
Once known for her rude dnb styles, this west coast native made the jump over the pond years ago, and came back with a fresh new appreciation for all things techno! Her fresh style, bouncy melodies, and infectious attitude makes her an act that you absolutely can not miss, especially if you’re a techno freak!
2. The Glitch Mob
After witnessing their live show here in Vancouver this past weekend, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention these pioneering musicians on our list. Since this is a DJ set, it’s going to have different of a vibe of course, but you’re still likely to expect the Mob’s signature warped style and high energy performance.
1. KLL SMTH
At the Shambhala Music Festival, his Amphitheater set blew us into another dimension! He’s been making the rounds lately, and this is clearly a star on the rise. Bass music and wild stage antics are his game, and it’s a fun one to watch!
There you have it folks, and we hope to see you around this weekend having the best time ever!
