It has been roughly two weeks since we finally pulled the trigger and purchased the almighty Ableton Push. Since that day, our workflow has been completely transformed! Ableton used to be intimidating; we would really need an inspiration of some sort before we could sit down and start recording. But now, thanks to the Push, we are completely addicted to sitting down and jamming every spare second we possibly can!
What we love about the Push is how versatile it is and how it allows us to fully concentrate on the beat, not on our computer screens. With the Push, we are able to gain complete control over Ableton Live 9, which allows us to arrange a track from start to finish without ever even touching our computers! The 64 touch and velocity sensitive pads are practically drugs for our fingers; we are constantly left with an unbearable craving for the next beat.
Producing with the Push delivers a unique experience that no other MIDI controller can even compare. We feel the sensation of playing an actual instrument throughout the session. With the Push, countless opportunities to be unique are adequately presented in the world of production and live performances. Ableton says that the Push is “a new instrument that solves an old problem: how to make a song from scratch. With hands-on control of melody and harmony, beats, sounds, and song structure, Push puts the fundamental elements of music making at your fingertips”.
