New shocking research is coming out of Brazil. The ad agency Ogilvy and Schweppes conducted an experiment to help raise awareness and inform people how severe sexual harassment is in Brazil, as well as in the rest of the world.
Researchers created a ‘smart dress’ that is embedded with touch sensory technology. The sensors allow the researchers to see how many times women are touched without their consent.
Three women wore the dress in a nightclub in Brazil. The findings were shocking, the women were groped 157 times, about 40 times per hour. The results were then shown to men, who were also shocked by the findings.
Though these numbers may not be shocking to everyone, the numbers are sad to see. Hopefully as people continue to raise awareness of these issues the climate will change, but we’ve got a long way to go. The dress can not be purchased, but it would be interesting to see the numbers from around the world. Did the numbers shock you? Let us know on our Facebook and Twitter.
