In the midst of a cold, grey December, excitement fills the Western Canadian air. The largest winter music festival in the great white north, Contact, returns to B.C. Place, in downtown Vancouver, for two days of post-Christmas, pre-New Years turn up. Once again, Blueprint Events brings the heat with its’ 2018 lineup.
Featuring The Chainsmokers, Skrillex, Galantis, and NGHTMRE, to name a few, this year’s festival is not short of star power. As you map out your Contact weekend, these four sets are ones worth checking out:
Skrillex
Perhaps the biggest no-brainer, Sonny Moore makes his anticipated Pacific Northwest return, previously performing alongside Diplo as Jack U at FVDED in the Park 2016. The OWSLA head honcho has been pretty quiet for most of 2018, saying he needed time to be human for a bit.
Now, he’s back in a big way, ending the year with a string of festival performances across the country, as well as putting out new music- his most recent banger being a remix of rapper Travis Scott’s Sicko Mode. Will he unleash unheard material this weekend? Found out as he closes the Main Stage Friday night!
Cray

Cray is the total package: She can DJ, produce, sing, and can probably kick your ass in video gaming! Making her triumphant hometown return to Vancouver, you can expect a “fuck genres” type set as Cray has made a name for herself in indie, pop, electronic dance, to name a few, in recent years. We can’t wait to see what surprises she has up her sleeve! Catch her at the FVDED Stage on Contact Day 2!
Tails
Speaking of hometown performances, helping kick off Day Two is this local favorite. Making a name for himself in Western Canada with performances at some of the region’s biggest festivals, and best nightclubs, 2019 is poised to be Tails’ breakout year.
For the first time in his career, he will be going on a cross-country tour, hitting the road with Dutch electronic duo Droeloe at a city near you this Spring. We’re sure this tour is the beginning of many big things to come. If you aren’t familiar with Tails, you can change that Friday night, as he opens the Day Two Mainstage!
Black Tiger Sex Machine
A Pacific Northwest favorite, BTSM is opening its’ church doors in wat might be one of the most anticipated sets of Contact Day One. Coming off its’ first Asia tour, the French-Canadian electro trio is excited for the future: promising to “takeover” in 2019.
What will the future have in store? New helmets? New music? Who knows, but you can be the first to find out Friday night at the Contact Main Stage. Don’t forget your neck braces!
For the last-minute crowd, single, and two-day, passes are still available – in addition to VIP options. There will also be passes sold at the BC Place box office.
