GRiZ, a.k.a. Grant Kwiecinski, as some may know, came out as gay last year in a powerful essay. His fans were incredibly receptive, and since then he’s been a dedicated advocate for the success of the LGBTQ+ community. He’s known for inspiring philanthropy with the 12 Days of GRiZMAS, but this month, the artist took that dedication a step further.
He’s fundraising on Facebook for the It Gets Better Project, a campaign dedicated to uplifting gender and sexually diverse youth. At the time of this article he’s raised over $6,000 dollars with a goal of hitting $7,500. The project aims to spread messages of hope and connect resources to LGBTQ+ youth worldwide.
“As some of my most dedicated fans may know, supporting the LGBTQ community has become a huge priority for me,” Grant said on Facebook. “We have the potential to have all your (and my!) contributions matched by Facebook & PayPal, so there’s no better time to join me in creating a better world for these young souls.”
The man’s not shy to the struggles of others; he knows not everyone can give. He only asks that folks do what they can to help the cause take flight.
“Whether it’s $5 or $500, every little bit helps. And if you can’t donate, you can always help by sharing this with your friends.”
There’s no better time to give than the holiday season. Well, between gift shopping and other expenses, there may be some better times. But there is a true and open love among his fans for the betterment of the world, and it’s admirable to see him tap into that love.
