A Posthumous Dance Album by George Michael Is in the Works

A posthumous dance album by George Michael has been confirmed for release by Sony Music Entertainment; Michael had started working on this album back in 2011, but had not completed it prior to his death in 2016. The main condition for the album’s release was permission from his family, which was granted within the last year.

George’s creative partner, David Austin, told the Daily Mirror that “[there] are dance tracks he recorded and there are some finished products. There are some beautiful finished masters there.”

Michael specifically said that he had “lined up some really great dance producers to work on it too, so it’ll be a pretty stunning record,” though exact details on who the production team is have not yet been released. His goal for the album was to feature “gay or gay-friendly” artists. Some of these artists will be singing on tracks, instead of Michael himself, according to one of his earlier statements.

We suspect that this will be a posthumous record done right, fully honoring George Michael’s intentions and memory. One thing’s for sure: all of his colleagues are treating this album with the highest level of reverence and love that anyone could ask for.
