Marshmello is Returning to Seattle For the 2018 Special Olympics

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the 2018 Special Olympics is kicking off in Seattle this weekend. The opening ceremony, taking place Sunday, July 1st at the University of Washington’s Husky Stadium, will be emceed by actor-singer Taye Diggs and feature the traditional Parade of Athletes, lighting of the Special Olympics Flame of Hope, and musical performances from Grammy-nominated singer Charlie Puth, the latest American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe, and a name you might be real familiar with. Yes, the man pictured above: Marshmello (plus many others).

Fresh off the release of his Joytime II EP, the Mellogang head honcho makes his Pacific Northwest return- previously lighting up the stage at Contact Winter Music Festival, Vancouver, last December- and the Paradiso mainstage months prior. It’s been a while since he’s performed in downtown Seattle though, the last time being Bumbershoot 2016 at The Key. With the Special Olympics built as a family-friendly event, we expect his set at Husky Stadium to be as clean and colorful as his original music. While nothing has been announced or teased, we’re holding onto hopes of an unofficial Marshmello afterparty SOMEWHERE downtown!

The Special Olympics fun starts at noon with doors opening an hour prior. General admission tickets are still available, starting at $20, with premium reserved seating for $65.

Will we see you there Mellogang?
