If you have ever considered raving abroad, this summer might just be the perfect time for it! There’s a smorgasbord of European festivals to choose from, with the biggest lineups taking place in some of the continent’s most popular cities and smaller, more unique locations.
Recently, flights across the pond have become a little more affordable (pro tip: Google Flights is your best friend), so here are some festivals that have us salivating at the mouth and checking the expiration dates on our passports; though they’re a few months out, now is the time to get to planning!
Airbeat-One Festival
??Neustadt-Glewe, Germany
July 11-15
Set up on a rural airfield in a small town between Hamburg and Berlin, Airbeat-One is celebrating its 17th edition with, perhaps, its biggest lineup ever!
Spread across five stages, over three days, are some of the most popular names in electronic dance music today. With Tomorrowland occurring the following weekend, it looks like many of the headliners are stopping by Northern Germany to prefunk at Airbeat-One before heading to Belgium.
There’s a little something to satisfy almost all tastes here- bassheads included! For the first time in its history, the festival will feature a dedicated trance stage, hosted by Transmission Festival. Recognized by the global trance community for jaw-dropping production and quality lineups, Transmission will step beyond its boundaries for the first time to host an event that’s not occurring at a festival of its own. Performing at the inaugural Transmission stage are fifteen of trance music’s finest, including Ferry Corsten’s alter-ego Gouryella, Solarstone and Giuseppe Ottaviani’s PURENRG, Ilan Bluestone, MaRLo, Super 8 and Tab, and the Unicorn Slayer Markus Schulz. Throw in Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Vini Vici (not pictured), and Neelix at the Mainstage and what you have is one of the strongest trance lineups of ANY festival taking place this Summer.
The other new stage this year, and the smallest is the BoomBox. There aren’t many bass, trap, and future house artists on Airbeat-One ‘18’s overall festival lineup- not a surprise considering how those genres aren’t as big in Europe like they are here in North America. The ones that play those genres can be found at this stage- Jauz, Carnage, and Borgore standing out the most.
Tickets are still available, starting at €129.99 Euros (appx. $160 USD) for all three days- a steal for that lineup, if you ask us! Camping and hospitality packages are available as well. More artists are expected to be announced, so stay tuned!
