On March 21st, after a long separation, Ultra Music Festival acquired the long lasting Winter Music Conference. Ultra Music Festival originally began as a way to branch out from the business side of WMC and commemorate dance music.
For those that do not know, Winter Music Conference is a 3 day event in which DJs, producers, label representatives, promoters, and other knowledgeable industry professionals come together to hold panels and seminars on different topics spanning across all different aspects of electronic music.

Ultra Music Festival first began as a celebration at the end of every Winter Music Conference, and quickly grew in popularity. As the festival and creation of Miami Music Week grew, the focus started to shift from the Winter Music Conference to the incredible live music happening all week in the city
The merge comes as a symbol of acceptance of both sides that this is what is best for the future of both Ultra and the Winter Music Conference. With it’s decline in attendance over the past few years, this will hopefully not only bring it back to its previous prominence in the world of electronic music, but help it grow stronger than it ever was.
It provides an opportunity for a larger electronic music conference outside of Europe, as the Ibiza conference is on a smaller island and can be expensive for businesses and fans. Co-Found Bill Kelly shared that he hopes this will bring the attention back to Miami, which could let WMC grow to other parts of the world just as Ultra has.
