When the news broke in 2016 that massive European ski and music festival Snowbombing was making it’s Canadian debut in 2017, people were full of excitement. Dance Music Northwest got to attend last year, and it was a blast!
Coors Light Snowbombing reimagines the festival scene, offering totally unique stages like the Forest Stage, The Underground, and Coors Light Basecamp. Plus, there are several activities to keep you activie including, Alpine Yoga, Rise & Seek Competition, an award winning Terrain Park, The Snowlympics, and even Chair Lift Speed Dating for those looking for a little love on the mountain!
Well, now they’re back, and the 2018 lineup is absolutely unreal. Watch the official announcement video here and check out the lineup below!
Bringing together some of EDM and rap’s biggest names, this year’s outing boasts everyone from current A-lister Cardi B, legendary duo Odesza, masked dynamos Black Tiger Sex Machine, along with some Dirtybird love from Christian and Justin Martin, and good vibes house from Billy Kenny.
But, the coolest thing about this lineup is the scads of unknown and up and coming talent. Going through the lineup, it’s clear this is going to be a weekend of discovering new faves, and we decided to give you a little preview with our top 5 artists to watch!
5.Tails
Brandon Artis 2018
This Vancouver Island raised bass music prodigy has been coming up in the scene over the last couple years. Tails’ set at The Amphitheatre at Shambhala last year gained him serious notoriety, plus his collaborations with Graves and Alexander Lewis. His tunes have been getting serious support from heavy hitters like Louis the Child and Mr Carmack. This guy, in his own words, “uses lo-fi technology from tape decks to a 404 to make empyreal unquantized club beats” and, as evidence in his tunes, it works.
4. Elohim
An enigma changing the way we see female stars, or, not see them. Her mysterious persona and incredible talent has made people take notice, and it’s awesome to see her ready to represent the ladies in Sun Peaks. With a name that means God in Hebrew, this artist managed to remain incognito since she debuted, and we’re hyped to be part of the mystery.
3. Chuurch
The originators of a new sound described as their signature “lean bass,” this syrupy, laid back style will simultaneously send dance floors into a frenzy. Chuurch, hailing from Calgary, AB, is certainly memorable for their 2016 Shambhala set, which became one of the most talked about debuts of 2016. The proceeding years have been full of headline club slots, huge festival gigs, and massive acclaim. These dudes are gonna get this mountain sideways!
2. Fisher
Another Dirtybird maniac, Fisher has been flying under the radar too long, and we’re ecstatic to see him on this lineup. The anthemic Ya Kidding and it’s corresponding video are currently making their rounds around the internet. If you’re not familiar with his bouncy tunes, you will be soon, as his tunes are showing up in house sets everywhere (with no signs of stopping). Don’t miss this guy!
1. Nora En Pure
Not new to the electronic music scene by any stretch of the imagination, but her eclectic blend of deep house beats hasn’t permeated the PNW as well as it should have. Nora En Pure’s sexy, smooth beats will keep you warm even on the side of a snow covered mountain. With her knowledge of music and seemingly bottomless crates, it’s always a something unique, so make sure not to miss out!
