Even on a New Night, Resolution 2018 Shined (and Maybe Was Even Better)

December 29 was not quite New Year’s Eve, but was still a night that we will never forget. USC Events took on a major change this year to the annual NYE festival, Resolution. With the date changing from NYE to the 29th, due to a Seahawks game on the 31st, some doubts and hesitations were floating around about this year’s “New Year’s Eve” celebration. Turns out, having the event before NYE was way better!

Here is DMNW’s 2018 review of Resolution, USC’s white and gold spectacular:

Entry

Doors were supposed to open at 6:30, however were delayed until about 7. The lines moved fairly quickly with the number of people who were waiting. Attendees dressed up in sequin and festive attire with parkas and sweatpants over them (darn Seattle weather). Security in the lines moved at a decent pace, with girls in one line, and guys in the other.

Venue

We have to give it up to USC Events. The decoration were b.e.a.utiful. The entrance was filled with decorations and streamers and balloons and dancers, the list goes on and on. It made you feel like you were entering a winter wonderland. For Resolution this year, the three stages were located in new locations. The bass stage was located on the side of the main stage, while the third stage was located in the hallway. This setup is one of the best ones that we have seen. No sound conflict and having the bass stage close to the main stage is key. Seattle really is the bass capital.

Music

The lineup was packed with genres that everyone would enjoy. With the main stage filled with bass and house, the crowd was filled from start to finish: Nghtmre, Madeon, Nero, and Alesso. Completely different acts, yet it all fell together so perfectly. Nero gave a breathtaking performance with lasers and fires throughout the set. Alesso, and his original tracks, was the perfect act to end the festival – the whole venue was singing along to the closing song If I Lose Myself Tonight.

Resolution 2018 did not disappoint, to say the least. Even with its new date for this year’s show, the festival was still worth every second, and every penny, in our opinion.
