Couples who rave together stay together… or do they? It’s 1am. The headliner is half over and it’s that time in the night when things start to get crazy! It’s been over an hour since you lost your partner and you aren’t sure what to do. You both promised yourselves that if something like this were to take place, you’d enjoy your night regardless.
Is that them?! You wonder, face after face. You feel like people must be staring, and your panic sets in.
While some of us are leaves in the wind, those who find themselves bummed out when they get separated from their rave babe: here are some easy ways to make sure you don’t stay separated for long!
1. Modern Technology
Not all festivals have great cell service. But when you have been gifted this luxury, it’s smart to make sure that at least one of two people should have their phone on them (CHARGED!) Also, memorize your partner’s phone number. It’s likely you’ll find someone willing to let you borrow their phone.
2. Meet up times/points
Most of us who rave in larger groups know that when you separate, you often make a plan to meet up during a certain set later in the night. By doing this you can forgo the entire need for any sort of communication device or portable battery charger. Being unplugged at a festival is freeing!…Until you REALLY need to find your crew.
3. Designate the “tree”
When separated, the “tree” stays in one spot no matter what. Preferably in visible areas on the outside of the crowds. This gives the other an opportunity to cover less ground at a faster rate – thus wasting less time not focusing on the stage.
4. The lighthouse
Though carrying a totem may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it can come in handy when trying to get the attention of someone you’ve lost in the crowd. The “lighthouse” serves as a beacon of light (figuratively or literally!). This allows all parties to freely roam about, knowing they will eventually find the lighthouse!
5. Don’t leave the festival
After all your favorite songs have played and the crowd starts filing out, it can be tempting to travel back to home base in the hopes that soon your bae will be there.
However, if you choose to do this, just be aware that it’s a decision that could come with quite a bit of regret. The last 30 minutes of a festival can be the craziest time of the night! New songs, playing past the time constraint, surprise guests!
It’s important to note that in the process of finding your rave partner, you may be tainting your own personal experiences. Even though you aren’t getting to enjoy the rest of the night together, you can still let the music take over and later gush over the details as the sun comes up.
Festivals are an expensive venture. It is a shame when things go wrong and you don’t feel you got your money’s worth out of the whole ordeal. But with the power of positive perspective you can still have the night you expected!
