Looking for an intimate festival with a large focus on nurturing artistic creativity and sharing the love for all your fellow humans? Looking for something to do this weekend? Well look no further than Luminosity Gathering, an event taking place this weekend, July 14-17 at Sandy Pines Campground in Nahatlatch Valley.
The festival has a goal of zero waste and for that end, single-use dishes have been banned from the vending area. In addition to that measure, organizers also ensure that the vendors use organic and locally sourced food for a more sustainable eating experience. The organizers pour all of their energy into one stage, and there are a wide variety of workshops to be had, ranging from yoga to Thai massage. Not only that, the festival boasts a great variety of electronic acts.
Luminosity Gathering has remained true to their dream of an event free of corporate sponsorship through all of the changes of location this festival has gone through. The first festival was held at Sunny Daze Campgrounds on Vancouver Island, then at Gathering to Crystal Creek Sunshine Retreat on the Sunshine Coast, and it made its final move in 2016, to Nahatlatch Valley, 2.5 hours east of Vancouver.
In the last few weeks, the festival organizers have made an announcement that this year will be the final year for Luminosity Gathering. For those of us who can’t make it this year, don’t worry! The organizers have stated that they will more than likely keep doing events, and they reminded their fans that “this is not the end, but a transition in our evolving purpose. What the future holds is yet to be seen.”
