British Columbia is hands down one of the most beautiful and scenic places in North America. In a few short weeks, many dance music fans will begin making their annual pilgrimage to their favorite festivals and some even exploring new ones. With what seems like nearly a festival every month beginning in June, British Columbia has no shortage of killer lineups, amazing locations, great sound, and memorable festivals. For many, the idea of chasing the festival circuit is a bit of a long shot. But for the dedicated few, we give you the ultimate BC Festival Road Trip. Spanning over 3800km (2300miles), four ferry crossings, two months and eight festivals, this road trip is guaranteed to to put the entirety of British Columbia’s beauty on display.
Make no mistake, this trip will take some serious dedication, planning, saving and a job understanding enough to give you the time off. We’ll admit something like a two month summer vacation isn’t totally accessible for everyone, but with careful planning there’s ways to chase the endless summer dream. The idea of chasing the music for a full summer would seriously excite any fan in the music scene, so why not dream big? Most of B.C’s festivals have been carefully planned around one-another, to make sure there isn’t any overlapping, making it a perfect circuit to explorer all the providence has to offer.
Tall Tree Music Festival (Port Renfrew) June 23 – 26
Beginning our Ultimate BC Festival Road, we start off on beautiful Vancouver Island with Tall Tree Music Festival. Returning for it’s 8th year, the festival prides itself on putting together a diverse lineup of talent, both locally and internationally. The festival site is located on one of the most western points of Vancouver Island and offer unparalleled views of the scenic Brown’s Mountain. With a lineup ranging from Rock, Reggae and of course, plenty of Dance Music,Tall Tree is a great starting point to prime your spirits before embarking on this two month journey. Tickets are still available and we’d highly suggest picking them up. As for all festivals on this trip, we’d suggest picking up a ticket to at least one! With so many great festivals to take advantage of, we encourage you to branch out and try something new…or try them all!

Kamp Festival (Whatshan Lake Retreat) June 30 – July 3
Described as a “summer camp for adults”, Kamp Festival is all about participation and inclusion. A perfect opportunity to learn acro-yoga, play kickball, learn how to paint, and most importantly hear amazing music. Kamp aims to break the typical mold of a music festival by keeping its attendees active outside of just the stage areas. Complete with a lake to cool off, Kamp Festival is for sure a guaranteed way to rekindle your inner child and imagination. This year’s three day event features performances from Chali 2na, Jpod, Dirtwire and more. With tickets still available, it will for sure be another memorable year and makes for a great 2nd stop on the road trip.

Bass Coast Music Festival (Merrit) July 6 – 10
Brining us into July and into the full swing of the road trip is one of our new favorite festivals, Bass Coast. Last year we had the privilege of being a part of what so many others have been telling us to attend. The highly community-focused event brings together some of the best local, international, and up-and-coming artists in the bass music genre. Covering the range of grime, dubstep, trap, dancehall and everything in between, Bass Coast will put on showcase of some of the scene’s best acts. With on site art installations, workshops and a lake for mid-day hangs, Bass Coast offers up plenty of opportunity to explore, relax, and dance. While the events full lineup has yet to be released, the preview has already got us excited to return for another year. Tickets for 2017 have sold out, but that shouldn’t stop you from pursuing them through other means.
