Back in December, when Datsik announced he’ll be making rounds throughout the Pacific Northwest on his Ninja Nation tour, we may have gotten a little excited. Touting a full out barrage of PK Sound and the unveiling of his Shogun stage production; what more could we really ask for? And if support from Crizzly and Virtual Riot wasn’t enough, cue Kytami. The Victoria, British Columbia born,”Violinistextremist” who’s been blending a live violin performance with bass music for the past seven years. We had the pleasure of catching a performance last weekend and we promise you won’t want to miss them.
Kytami has been breaking necks and turning heads all over the better part of British Columbia since 2010. Collectively the group is made up of Kytami on violin and Phonik Ops on the decks and an occasional Deriek Simon as MC. The addition of a live instrument to dubstep, drum & bass and trap music is a serious breaking down of walls. While most performances are made up of a DJ behind the decks in the booth, Kytami defies the status quo. If you didn’t believe that a chick could get down and dirty on a violin to bass music you are entirely wrong. After seeing this girl throw down and crowd surf while ragging to drum & bass, we’re officially a believer!
With stops in Boise, Portland, Spokane, and Vancouver there’s plenty of opportunity to catch Kytami and the rest of the Ninja Nation Tour in the PNW. A good portion of the dates have been sold out so be sure to pick up your tickets before you miss out. Datsik’s Shogun stage is certainly worth the price of admission on its own and when joined with all this great support, it’s certainly made even better. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone out later this March…don’t forget your neck brace!
