In a consistently growing electronic music scene, we’re always looking to see how artists evolve their musical style. With all of the continually developing genres and sub-genres, many artists realize that technical diversity is necessary to thriving in this industry. In his newest release from Lowly Palace Records, Unlike Pluto showcases his ability to integrate multiple genres seamlessly within one song.
Unlike Pluto, also known as Armond Arabshahi, spent most of his youth and early adult years in Atlanta. Arabshahi originally majored in Biology at Emory University, but decided to chase his musical dreams in LA. Unlike Pluto’s songs occasionally feature Arabshahi’s vocals, yet always portray instrumental diversity.
His newest track, which was released on February 21, Worst In Me showcases Unlike Pluto’s smooth, melodic vocals. In contrast to some of the electronic music out there, Unlike Pluto focuses on the live instrumental aspect for the synths and bass line. It incorporates elements of indie music in relation to its simple yet layering arrangements of instruments, melody, and rhythm. As the lyrics resonate in the song, the vibrant guitar acts as the synths throughout. When the track gets to the breakdown, it takes on an industrial feel that utilizes the distinctive drum line.
Worst In Me is now available to stream on Spotify, and for purchase through iTunes. Unlike Pluto also recently announced his Everything is Black Tour. In a Facebook post, Unlike Pluto describes the dress code as “all black” to coordinate with the tour name.
The Pacific Northwest has multiple stops on his the tour this spring. Unlike Pluto will be at Portland’s 45 East on May 5th, and Foundation Nightclub in Seattle the following day. There is TBA date prior to his Portland show, so maybe Vancouver will make an appearance on the touring list. You can get tickets to Unlike Pluto’s 45 East show here for $13.39 after taxes.
