Bullying can happen anywhere and to anyone. Last year, more than one out of every five students (21.5%) reported being bullied, according to the National Center for Educational Statistics. The reasons are truly heart breaking. Looks, figure, race…and it’s more than children being bullied; adults face it too. This is a real issue, one which Gareth Emery and Ian Standerwick, two of the biggest names in trance, want to put an end to. And they need your help.
Alongside the emerging Vancouver, British Columbia-based Monstercat Label, Emery and Standerwick announced Monday that proceeds from their latest collaboration, titled Saving Light, will go to the anti-bulling charity Ditch The Label. Proceeds include funds generated from Saving Light‘s music video streams, which premiered Monday as well. So just by clicking play below, you’re helping to put a stop to bullying. Be warned, the emotionally charged video, and song, is a tough watch. It chronicles a young school girl who faces abuse, both physically and verbally, before contemplating suicide. We won’t spoil the rest.
Ditch The Label, established in 2012, is one of the largest anti-bullying charities in the world, with work spanning across the United Kingdom, the US and Mexico. According to its website, “every three minutes somebody will benefit from our support”. More information about Ditch The Label, and its mission, is available online. Want to donate to its cause directly? There’s an option for that too!
Are you, or someone you know, affected by bullying? Help is out there. Let’s not let negativity win. As Ditch The Label says, [pullquote]”Together, we can and will beat bullying”.[/pullquote]
