DMNW’s Must-See Performances of Rifflandia 2016

With Rifflandia taking place this weekend, it’s that time of the year to figure out when and where you’re going to be during the 9^th edition of Victoria’s premier music festival! Showcasing the talents of over 120 artists, Rifflandia presents attendees with plenty of options to choose from. But with 15 venues, including a brand new super venue which combines 3 individual stages into one gigantic party, figuring out exactly where you want to be can be quite the daunting task.

Although scouring artists for new music is a hobby in itself, it does eat up quite a bit of time. Thankfully, DMNW has your back; because we’ve put together a must see list of our recommendations for Rifflandia 2016! While not every choice is necessarily classified as dance music, we’d be dancing to a very different beat if other genres didn’t pave the way. Besides, when you break it down – all music is dance music!

15. Michael Franti & Spearhead

While it may not be our target audience’s first choice, Michael Franti & Spearhead are guaranteed to put on a show that will leave the entire crowd smiling from ear to ear. Well known for his thought-provoking lyrics and energetic live performances, Michael Franti will close out Friday at Royal Athletic Park with a vibe that is sure to get everybody dancing!

14. Classified

Canadian hip-hop icon Classified represents what east coast hip-hop is all about, and we’re excited to see him back in the west. One of the hardest workers in the Canadian scene, Classified will bring his unique flavor and style to an already stacked line up of hip-hop over the course of the weekend.
