A legend such as Giorgio Moroder is not new to the industry, but that does not mean he is stuck in his ways. In a recent Reddit AMA, he turned to his fans for questions and inspiration. He discussed collaborations that are in the works (well, hinted at them) and talked about where he looks for inspiration.
In Giorgio’s AMA we did not just learn about his his music career, or where his first show was, but we also learned things such as his favorite ice cream, and where he met his wife.
Giorgio has been in the music scene since 1965. He has worked with legends such as Barbra Streisand, Elton John, David Bowie and more, but he does not see this list ending anytime soon. He hinted at collaborations with Skrillex, and wanting to work with Rihanna. We can only hope these happen in the future.
Throughout the session he came across as a positive individual with a lot of respect for DJs today. Currently his favorite producers are David Guetta, Skrillex, Marshmello, and Martin Garrix. He also mentioned that Jack U, Skrillex, Martin Garrix, Marshmello and Slushii are cutting edge.
Many things have changed since Giorgio started producing, and it is interesting to see how he feels about it. A redditor asked, “Do you find today’s electronic tools more powerful and liberating, or are you more attracted to some of the limitations of previous eras?” Giorgio’s positivity and welcoming attitude towards change and new ideas came through:
I love it! I can work on my music while I travel the world! Producers can work together while being in different places everything is so fast and makes for more work, more sounds.
