Bumbershoot 2016: All the Sets You Can’t Miss This Year

Bumbershoot is drawing nearer, and schedules have been officially posted, so it is time to decide which acts we must prioritize to see this year. Being one of Seattle’s biggest festivals, Bumbershoot has definitely pulled out all the stops to bring us an exciting Labor Day weekend. We already know this is a stacked line-up with plenty of artists spanning multiple genres, comedy, and even a silent disco. Despite all of the big names (Kygo, Pretty Lights, and Porter Robinson to name a few), there are tons of other artists to catch over the weekend.

Friday

Bob Moses

The Vancouver electronic duo start the festival off early at 4:30. At Fisher Green, Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance will provide a set that spans multiple genres, in addition, their background in rock and trance will bring a variety of experimental sounds. The melodic beats paired with their blend of keyboard and electric guitar will keep you swaying. As a result, seeing some of Bob Moses would start your Bumbershoot off with good vibes.

Gryffin

Gryffin recently played his first DJ set at Mad Decent Block Party, but we can only hope he’ll be doing his usual live performance at Bumbershoot. In a live performance, Gryffin combines his smooth electric guitar and keyboarding skills with upbeat house. His blend of instruments and different sub-genres of house will set a happy-go lucky mood, and carry through until the end of the performance. Gryffin is set to release a new single titled “Whole Heart”  with Bipolar Sunshine on Friday August 26th. Furthermore, Gryffin’s fresh incorporation of live instruments will satisfy a variety of house enthusiasts.

Liquid Stranger

One of the many top acts of Shambhala, Liquid Stranger will bring a blend of downtempo, experimental future, and bass to your Bumbershoot experience. USC Events has brought the Swedish DJ to take part in their Silent Disco, and will be closing out the stage on Friday night. Liquid Stranger will definitely provide the music to let you jam however you please, and is a can’t miss of the night. The heavy sound through the headphones will make the Silent Disco a great place to catch this set.
