Pemberton Music Festival 2016: The DMNW Preview

EDC Vegas. Paradiso. FVDED. Bass Coast. Dance Music NW has been on the move this summer, checking out the biggest music festivals in the Pacific Northwest (and beyond). Next up for us? Pemberton Music Festival this weekend! It’s been two years since the Dance Music NW crew ventured across the border to check out one of British Columbia’s most diverse entertainment festivals. With a 2016 jaw-dropping lineup that features a little something for everyone, there was no way we could pass this experience up! Here are some things you should know as the weekend looms.

Titled “The Best Place on Earth,” Pemberton, British Columbia is celebrating its third Pemby Fest. What exactly is Pemby Fest? What is it like? For those who don’t know what this festival is, think Paradiso. You get the opportunity to camp amongst thousands and dance to the biggest names in music, spanning various genres (to include hip hop, rock and grunge!) In addition to music, there are performances by some of the biggest names in comedy. Providing the laughs this year include Craig Robinson (The Office and any Seth Rogen-James Franco movie ever), Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson, Cheech and Chong, and more!

Whereas Paradiso is located in a desert Gorge setting, the journey to Pemby Fest will take you to the mountains of British Columbia. Located 2.5 hours north of Vancouver, by car, the event ground rests on lush green fields, surrounded by tall trees and even the even taller Mt. Currie. There are three campgrounds that circle the festival grounds: the north campground, the south campground and the VIP camp. Camping opens TODAY at 2 PM and close Monday at the same time. Camping tickets are sold out so any last minute attendees will be forced to park at nearby Whistler Mountain and take a shuttle to and from the event. There will be no parking for those who aren’t camping. Campers, on the other hand, will be safe with ticket in hand. More shuttle and camping information can be found here.

Speaking of tickets, there are still some available! Single day, general admission tickets start at $169 CAD (about $130 USD) and include unlimited shuttle passes. If you have a few more dollars to spare, available VIP ticket packages start at $899 CAD ($693 USD) and include unlimited shuttles as well.

Last, but not least, can we talk about this year’s lineup? Holy Smokes! Pearl Jam, The Killers, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Wiz Khalifa, J. Cole,  Kaskade, The Chainsmokers, and DJ Snake? Yes please! Steve Angello, Flosstradamus, Tyler the Creator, Baauer, and Datsik? And much, much more! Just take our money!

This massive lineup will be split among four stages. For our fellow electronic and hip hop fans, a look at the daily lineup shows we’ll likely spend most of our time at the Bass Camp. A closer look at the map also shows plenty of food and drink options, merchandise stands, lockers, charging stations, water stations and first aid tents. There’s even a zip line for the thrill seekers out there. Pretty much everything you’ll need to properly enjoy Pemby is at your disposal.

Complete lineup, tickets, camping, shuttle information and more can be found on the festival’s website or on its app, which is currently available on Android or Apple. Going to Pemby Fest? Which acts are you looking forward to seeing? Drop us a comment below, or use the hashtag #DanceMusicNW.
