Festival season is in full swing, and we’re officially 1 month away until we return back to beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia for FVDED in the Park. Back for its 4th year, Blueprint has once again put together a must attend festival, with over 30 local and international acts. Last year, over 28,000 people attended the event at the new, 10 acre location in Holland Park. With the bragging rights of Metro Vancouver’s largest outdoor music event, you’re sure to bet Blueprint has pulled out all the stops to make 2016 another memorable year.
At first glance, the lineup would have most fans beyond excited with names like Jack Ü, Zedd, and RL Grime just to name a few. But looking beyond those big names, we offer the opportunity to discover some new names. Blueprint does a great job pulling not only some of the biggest names in the industry to their multi-day massives, but some of the best up and coming, as well as local talent Vancouver has to offer. The types of names you may stumble upon earlier in the day saying to yourself “WHOA…who is this?!” With that, we offer 4 of our MUST see sets for this year’s FVDED in the Park.
EKALI
24-year-old and Vancouver local Nathan Shaw, AKA EKALI, has certainly been getting himself noticed over the last year. With writer credits on Drake’s “Wednesday Night Interlude,” Nathan has been making quite the name for himself in the industry. We first caught EKALI last year at Shambhala, where we were absolutely blown away with his unique sound and diverse set. With the festival season just beginning, Nathan is already coming hot off of his performance at this year’s Coachella. Make no mistake, this is not a set to miss at this year’s FVDED in the Park. And for those not making it… fear not, he’ll also be gracing us with a set at this year’s Bass Coast.
REZZ
Another young gun turning heads is 21-year-old Isabelle Rezazadeh. REZZ has been called the “Female Gesaffelstein” and with releases on both mau5trap and Nest, there is certainly something to be said about this self-taught producer. Her dark and edgy techno sound has helped launch her career seemingly overnight into the festival circuit. We’ll be catching our first dose of REZZ earlier this month at Paradiso, but highly recommend catching her on Day 1 of FVDED. She will also be making an appearance at Shambhala – and make no mistake we’ll be there for that one as well!
Shiba San
Certainly not needing much of an introduction, the 2 time WMC’s “Best Underground Track” award winner will be bringing his house vibes to Holland Park. For anyone who caught him last year at Shambhala, they’ll tell you it was definitely a highlight of the weekend. After his hit track, Okay, Shiba San has been putting festival dance floors across the globe into a frenzy. We highly encourage anyone attending to catch his set, as we guarantee you’ll be hard met at not wanting to dance.
Pomo
Rounding off our list is another Vancouver local, multi-instrumentalist and producer, David Pimentel. Pomo‘s music is a tasteful blend of hip hop, house, 70s and 80s funk which has helped him take home a Juno award this year for “Electronic Album of the Year.” A man of many talents, his performances are a true expression of his musical passion. His set will likely come earlier in the day, which will be perfect for taking in the sun and groovin’ the day away.

The DMNW crew will be out in full force at FVDED as we return for another wonderful event. Last year we celebrated America’s birthday in Canada, so we thought it would only be fitting to keep the tradition alive. Tickets for FVDED in the Park are nearly sold out, so we highly suggest anyone planning to attend to hop on them now. We also HIGHLY suggest you not miss the after parties. If we’ve learned anything from previous events from Blueprint, it’s to not miss out on these. We’re looking forward to seeing our fellow Canadian friends and family, as well as those wonderful traveling Seattleites!
Important things happen in Pacific Northwest nightlife, and DMNW will send you alerts!
