For anyone who’s been living under a rock, Bumbershoot Festival is one of the largest and longest of Seattle’s music and art festivals, celebrating it’s 46th anniversary this upcoming Labor Day Weekend. The event will take place at the Seattle Center, with a 74 acre campus filled with gardens, fountains, and venues within it. The venue is also known for other annual festivals like Northwest Folklife, Seattle International Children’s Festival, and Bite of Seattle. Dating back to 1971, it has hosted the best contemporary artists of our time, such as James Brown, Death Cab for Cutie, Nas, MGMT, and Tina Turner, to name a few. Music festivals have been around for a while now, and as of just recently has been discovered as a stress reliever, in which we ourselves are looking for researches involved on the cause to find out more.
Originating as just a music and art festival, the event has expanded into exploring the arts of film, comedy, visual arts, dance competition, and not only covering international large artists, but Seattle’s own local musicians too. As a reminder, last year alone Bumbershoot festival sold 80,000 tickets and the lineup was stacked with a variety artists: Bassnectar, The Weeknd, Flying Lotus, Lindsey Sterling, Keys N Krates, Brand New, Classixx, Moon Hooch, Emancipator, and many others graced the diverse roster.
The only way to be in on the in, will be by coming out this Monday April 25th for the Lineup Announcement party, as they announce each artist via Bingo. Bingo will begin at 7:30, as well as prizes for those participating.
