Pirate Bay announces music streaming coming soon

The Pirate Bay Launches Movie Torrent Streaming, Music Coming Next

Since the debut of the internet, we’ve fought through some major battles over how we share and transfer copyrighted material. The last few years have fallen in favor of the corporations, with the most recent example to us being the changes behind Soundcloud. But today, DMNW comes bearing good news, everyone! The Pirate Bay, the most notorious file sharing site in the world, is at it again. And soon we may be partying like it’s 1999.

In a move that will, without a doubt, ruffle even more feathers in the corporate world, the interweb’s most popular torrent site announced they’re now providing support for Torrents Time, the plugin that allows users to stream torrents straight from their browsers. Yes, you read that right – you can now stream torrents on the Pirate Bay. For free. Without downloading anything aside from the actual plugin itself.

Think about that for a second. But don’t run off just yet, because here’s the best part! While Torrents Time currently only supports the streaming of movies & TV shows, the developers assure users that digital music torrent streaming is coming “within weeks.”

For anyone who has ever downloaded a torrent, you can pretty much delete all of that annoying software right now. Because not only does Torrents Time work with the Pirate Bay, but other major players have jumped on board as well. If all goes according to plan, this could potentially be one of the biggest bombs to be dropped on the music industry since the rise and fall of Napster in the early 2000’s.

Believe it or not, there was a time not long ago when the transfer of music wasn’t viewed with as much reckless abandon as it is today. It was a time when copyright infringement laws had not yet caught up to the fast paced tech world, which provided us with access to a seemingly endless supply of music at our fingertips. And that was a good thing, because it was also a time when buying a new album meant spending upwards of $20. You don’t know heartbreak until your case containing 200 of those pricey plastic assholes gets lost or stolen.

As with everything torrent related, the entire legality behind this process is one gigantic grey area. In due time, you may be reading an article about Torrents Time getting shut down for whatever reason the lawyers come up with. But for now, you can download a VPN and take pleasure in knowing that once again having your favorite music at your fingertips is just around the corner! In the meantime, sit back and enjoy a movie on us. The popcorn still ain’t cheap though.
