New Zealand has provided the world with some pretty awesome things over the years: Sheep, an abundance of milk, and a backdrop for Middle Earth among others. But in recent history, and a bit more relevant to the musical community, the small island country has produced a plethora of skilled musicians, featuring the likes of Flight of the Conchords, Opiuo, and dubstep heavyweights Truth.
For those who don’t know, Truth is made up of Tristan Roake and Andre Fernandez, a duo from Christchurch now residing in California. After a few successful tours on the festival circuit, not to mention a stop in Seattle this past summer, bass babies began to discover the truth really was out there, and the pair quickly gained legendary status in the west coast dance scene with their deep and wobbly basslines.
During that time, their extensive tours and commitment to new music helped Truth become a staple in the playlist of many bassheads. And for just over 4 years, the dubstep duo has been releasing a string of mixes known as the “Truth Chronicles,” each one packed with fresh tunes and oozing with the dark and dangerous sounds you’ve come to love.
While their approach to dubstep doesn’t slap you in the face like some of the more aggressive stuff around, once you hit play you’ll quickly understand why the name of Truth has become what it is – low end frequency at its finest. Blending a mix of their own productions with the deepest dub tracks of today, the 29th volume of “Truth Chronicles” sets the stage with their signature sound as the duo prepares to take 2016 by storm. Residents of the great white north can catch them this April as Truth hits the road to take over Western Canada!
Keep an eye out for a show near you – as more dates are being confirmed at this very moment (don’t worry, we’ll let you know as soon as they’re booked). And if you get the chance to witness Truth live this summer, do us a favor and don’t miss out. We like living vicariously through you!
