On November 28, dubstep/D&B producer Getter made his return to Vancouver, BC at Red Room Ultra Bar. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Red Room Ultra Bar has been a favorite of ours here at DMNW. Since April of 2014, Red Room has been a host to Digital Motion Event’s aptly name ‘Subculture Saturdays’. If you’re in Vancouver on a Saturday and looking for fun night or even some ‘Shambhavibes’ this is the place to get it.
A couple of weeks ago was no different, with the return of California native Tanner Petula, better known as Getter. Petula has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the scene such as Skrillex, Datsik, and Borgore. He was signed to Datsik’s Firepower Records in 2012, then later Skrillex’s OWSLA. Getter is on the rise to becoming another major west coast DJ and producer. Playing for a sold out crowd on Red Room’s state of the art PK Sound system, there was no shortage of good vibes.
Digital Motion released an official video recap of the night and it’s pretty clear that if you weren’t there than you suffered from a serious case of ‘FOMO’.

Local photographer Joffrey Middleton-Hope was also there as usual to capture the night in photos. Be sure to also check out his gallery of photos from the night on Digital Motion Events Facebook page. Joffrey has been a regular to Subculture Saturday for quite some time now and had this to say about the night.
“Vancouver’s Red Room is an entertainment venue rapidly establishing itself at the forefront of the west coast bass music scene. With ongoing upgrades to the sound and atmosphere, you can be guaranteed an immersive experience every Saturday for subculture. The fall return of Getter from California to a sell out crowd reiterates the bunk notion of ‘no fun city’, and catapults our ideals of what bass culture is in Vancity. I’m constantly reminded of the energy that is inside BC’s eardrums and their ongoing weekly requirement for good music.”
We’re looking forward to future events at the Red Room and are excited to see the rise of electronic music in Vancouver. Too long has British Columbia gone unnoticed for delivering some of the most talented artists in the scene today. Have a favorite venue in BC? We’d like to hear about it so reply to us on Twitter or leave a comment on our Facebook.
