Seattle Organization Throwing ‘Hands-On With Ableton Push’ Open House in October

If you’re an Ableton Live user, or an aspiring user, chances are you’ve heard of Ableton Push—the new “song-from-scratch” controller/instrument released earlier this year. What you might not know is how to use it, or how to navigate the new music creation workflow Ableton is preaching. Fortunately, Foundry10 has you covered, and they’re right here in Seattle.

Foundry10 is a learning research organization in Seattle that offers students programs and internships in VR, game development, dance, film, and digital music. Some of their research even explores what it means to be a creative artist. Students gain experience with technology and art, and explore new methods of alternative learning.

“Currently our program has over 20 Ableton Pushes and 10 laptops with Ableton 9 licenses. We’re asking that students that already have Ableton 9 to bring their laptop and headphones so that we can serve those with and without machines.”

On October 22nd, Foundry10 is hosting an all-ages Hands-On With Ableton Push open house event. In the 2-hour presentation, they will conduct interactive lessons with Push that explore songwriting, remixing, and pattern making. Collectively, the entire class will create a composition together. It’s a great opportunity for entry-level musicians to get a hands-on experience making music with Push.
